Towering above Snowbasin, high on the mountaintop is our iconic Lone Tree. More than just a symbol for Snowbasin, this thrilling double black diamond is also one of our most famous runs. Drop into tight chutes between beautifully rugged granite rock walls, and crest a steep rocky nose down into a bowl of perfect powder.
A featured men’s run in the 2002 Winter Olympics Grizzly Downhill is a technical masterpiece that has been called “one of the most difficult downhills in North America,” which we take as a compliment. Grizzly plunges nearly 3,000 vertical feet in just under two miles. Rumor is the run is named after a 10-foot-tall 1,000-pound bear with three toes, named Old Ephraim who could rip apart an Aspen tree in one bite. The bear may be gone, but the thrills remain.
Wildflower Downhill was a featured Women’s course in the 2002 Winter Olympics. But don’t let the name fool you, this run is no delicate flower. This run gets tough with a vertical drop of 2,625 feet and a pitch 35.1 degrees steep, just 1.5 degrees less than Grizzly.
The longest trail at Snowbasin and one of the longest in all of Utah. Take your time carving down this 2-mile long wide open trail with valley views below that feel like you’re in the Swiss Alps. And along the way, you’ll enjoy some of the top-ranked grooming in the business.
The greater the challenge, the greater the reward. In this case, the reward is untouched snow, steep terrain, and a nearly 3,000-foot drop black diamond. It’s accessed by a short hike from the top of the Allen Peak Tram, which scares away the french fry and pizza skiers, leaving this legendary powder wide open for serious riders.
A local favorite intermediate trail featuring three steep pitches that drops, flattens out, drops, flattens out, drops and flattens out, giving it that “roller coaster” feel. On the third pitch is a pine tree with dozens of homemade birdhouses hiding underneath its canopy. A perfect hidden gem to make a pitstop and explore.
This double black diamond is surrounded by steep cliffs, making you feel like you’re inside a cereal bowl riding the milk. And waiting at the bottom of the bowl lies the famous Silicone Jump, a natural ramp revered by locals and sought out by the pros, like X-Games Gold Medalist Tom Wallish.
A wide, expansive double black diamond powder bowl with high points allowing you to drop in like you’re entering a ramp. Accessed from a short 25-step hike and traverse around the back side of Snowbasin from the top of Strawberry Gondola.
The mountain ridge that bookends Snowbasin from the south is called Sister’s Ridge. Below the narrow ridge peaks is Sisters Bowl, a steep double black diamond. For those with the knowledge and equipment prepared to ski back-country terrain, drop in to explore wide-open powder and carve or bomb your way to the bottom.
Cruise and carve your way through the heart of the resort on a run that showcases our impeccable grooming. A frequent host of ski competitions and where famous ski filmmaker Warren Miller won The Eccles Cup Men’s Giant Slalom at Snowbasin in 1948.
Beneath the iconic Mt. Ogden Ridgeline at the top of John Paul Express sits the crowd favorite Mt. Ogden Bowl. Take the access gate to ride closer to the ridgeline and cruise below the towering mountain on this double-black bowl of untracked powder. If you’re not quite ready for this one yet, sit back and watch the incredible riders shoot down the slope from the road below.
