FAQs

Do you have wireless internet? How much does it cost?

We offer free public Wi-Fi in our lodges. Earl’s Lodge has Wi-Fi available in the Main Dining Room, Huntington Room and Cinnabar. Needles Lodge and John Paul Lodge have Wi-Fi available on the main level.

Why can't I update the Snowbasin App?

We stopped updating our app a couple of winters ago. Our website is fully mobile friendly and you can find out the latest and greatest on the Conditions page. You can also follow us on social media for updates as well. If you liked to use the tracking aspect of the app there are many great free ones you can download like Snocru or Skitracks to just name a few.

Where can we have an alcoholic beverage?

We have many majestic lodges where alcoholic beverages can be purchased. Located inside of Earl's Lodge, the Cinnabar is a full bar with a full complement of spirits, wines and local beers. The Cinnabar is a dining licensed eatery, which means beverages can only be served to legal aged adults while they dine – open beverages cannot leave the restaurant space. At Earl’s Lodge, Needles Lodge, John Paul Lodge, and Strawberry Café, we sell beer to guests on-premise. In all of our lodges, we do not allow any guest to possess or consume their own alcoholic beverages that were not purchased on-premise from a licensed service staff member.

It is unlawful to possess or consume alcohol on Snowbasin Resort property that wasn’t purchased through a licensed facility on-premise. This boundary also includes public spaces around the Resort that are private property: all lodges, patio spaces, lifts and parking lot. To be served an alcoholic beverage at Snowbasin Resort, you must be of legal age (21 & over) and have a valid state-issued ID, passport or Military ID as proof.

Where can we park?

We offer complimentary parking in five locations: Earl’s Lot, Maples Lot, Canyon Rim Lot, Wildcat Lot and Green Pond Lot. Transportation to the Base Area is provided from all locations at designated pick-up sites. Handicap parking is available in Earl’s Lot. Conditions permitting, guests may ski to vehicles in Earl’s Lot, Maples Lot and Wildcat Lot.

If you have 3 or more people in your car, you get priority parking in Lot A of Earl's Lot. This is a first-come, first-serve basis.

Can we camp at Snowbasin?

We do not allow overnight camping on Snowbasin's premises. If found camping, our security will ask you to leave the premise. We appreciate your cooperation.

What's the ski and snowboard terrain like?

We offer ski and snowboard terrain for all ability levels at Snowbasin Resort. Our 115 trails are designated as 10% beginner, 60% intermediate, 30% advanced (although this may not seem apparent upon arrival!). Our Base Area elevation is 6316 feet above sea level and Mount Ogden summit elevation is 9570 feet above sea level.

How far are you from the airport?

Fly and ski/snowboard on the same day! We are just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International airport and 23 minutes from Ogden-Hinckley airport.

How do we get to Snowbasin Resort?

We are just a simple 40-minute drive from Salt Lake City and a 50-minute drive from Park City! Our GPS location is 3925 E. Snowbasin Road, Huntsville, Utah.

  • From Park City, I-80 east to I-84 west to Mountain Green exit 96.

Will there still be employees checking tickets at lifts?

As is common at other resorts, employees will remain in lift lines and corrals to monitor scans and ensure the correct guest is utilizing the pass.

What resort enhancements will be taking place at Snowbasin for the 2025-26 season?

Snowbasin will replace the Becker lift with high-speed quad, increasing uphill capacity and reducing ride times. The resort will expand beginner terrain, widening trails such as Bear Hollow, Snowshoe and Slow Road. RFID-gates will be installed to improve lift waits and eliminate the need to take passes out of your pocket.

Why did you go away from pictures on passes?

With RFID, you can keep your pass in your pocket. The printing process is significantly faster without photos, which will reduce wait times in line to get your pass printed. Your photo remains on your profile, so we’ll be able to verify that someone else is using your pass.

Can I still get a photo pass?

We’re working on a way to print a souvenir-type pass that won’t have working access, but can be purchased as a gift or memento. Stay tuned! We’ll have more info this fall.

Will Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective work with Snowbasin’s RFID?

Yes, they’ll be automatically integrated and do not need a new card.

Do I get an RFID pass if I do Ski Free This Spring?

A standard barcode pass will be issued for guests skiing on a new pass this spring. RFID passes will be issued on August 30th.

Will I need a new season pass card for RFID?

Yes – pass holders will be issued new RFID Season Pass cards beginning August 30th.

What is RFID?

Radio Frequence Identification (RFID) is a technology commonly used in ski passes and lift tickets where a small chip in the pass allows passive communication with scanners or gates to validate mountain access.  This technology allows skiers and riders to validate their passes or tickets without getting the physical card out of their pocket.

When can I get a pass with RFID?

You can pick up your RFID Season Pass beginning August 30th.

When will this RFID upgrade take place and when will guests experience it?

The RFID upgrade will take place over the summer with new access controls put in place as well as communications wire and power at lifts and base areas. These are planned for all Snowbasin lifts for efficient access and reduced wait times.

Why did you switch from barcode scanning to RFID?

Investing in RFID technology allows for a more seamless lift-riding experience, streamlining lift access, reducing wait times and positioning the resort for future technological advancements.

Will lift tickets also have RFID?

Lift tickets will also be moving to RFID technology. Kiosks and ticket offices can print and sell RFID tickets.

Will my wallet or phone ruin the RFID like it can with hotel keys?

No, they won’t ruin your pass, but they can block the signal, giving the gates an error and not allowing you through seamlessly.

Will Snowbasin be utilizing RFID gates in the summer?

No, the project will be implemented prior to the start of the 2025-26 winter season.

Should I keep my pass in my wallet?

We recommend keeping your pass in a separate pocket, away from wallets and phones that might interfere with the RFID signal. The best place to store it is hip height, on either side of your body, separate from other devices.

Can I reuse my pass?

Yes! Your pass can be reused each season, allowing you to skip the reprinting fee.

What if I have multiple passes from having to reprint? Will any of them work?

The pass used to scan in first on any given day will be the active pass. If you have more than one pass and try to use the other pass(es) after one has been scanned, the gates will not recognize that pass as active and will not grant access.

What is BLE?

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is a wireless technology that allows devices such as smartphones to connect and exchange data over short distances. It's designed to use less power than typical Bluetooth and can be used for ticketing and pass access for smartphones and associated apps.
