Snowbasin Resort Announces Opening Day on November 29th with Significant Parking Updates

HUNTSVILLE, UT (Nov. 22, 2024) – Winter is just around the corner at Snowbasin! The resort is excited to announce its opening day for the 2024-25 season on Friday, November 29th at 9 a.m. Snowbasin will welcome back skiers and snowboarders to the slopes with access to 2,560 vertical feet of open terrain.

“We're thrilled to welcome back our loyal guests and new visitors to our world-class resort for another incredible winter season” says resort general manager, Davy Ratchford. “This season is especially exciting as our resort is fresh off three award recognitions as the No. 1 ski resort in the U.S., according to SKI Magazine, Outside, and USA TODAY. We can’t wait for guests to experience the mountain we love and to make Opening Day unforgettable."

To show continued support to loyal guests and pass holders, Snowbasin is maintaining its preseason pass pricing until December 3. In addition, the resort will offer Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals throughout the week, including Opening Weekend tickets for just $164.25! As a part of these Black Friday deals, the Grizzly Center is offering 30% off Snowbasin merchandise from Friday, November 29th to Monday, December 2nd. Additionally, those looking for lodging for their Snowbasin vacation can receive 25% off a stay at the Grand and Little America in downtown Salt Lake City, just 45-minutes from the mountain. This is the biggest sale to date from Grand America Hotels and Resorts, and will run for a limited time from Wednesday, November 27th to Tuesday, December 3rd. Lastly, visitors can save up to 50% on tickets with the Basin Flex Card. The Basin Flex Card is valid for any day during the 2024-25 season with no blackout dates. The deal starts Monday, November 25th with the last day to save being Monday, December 2nd

Snowbasin is also debuting significant updates to its parking system, designed to enhance the guest experience and improve access to the mountain. The new traffic pattern will mitigate congestion on weekends and holiday periods, creating a seamless mountain experience for guests from arrival to departure.

Key improvements include:

  • Free Parking with No Reservations Required – Snowbasin is committed to free parking without reservations, providing the freedom to wake up and decide to ski with no planning involved. As one of the only Utah resorts that currently offers free parking, Snowbasin is proud of their longstanding commitment to their guests year after year.
  • New Traffic Pattern on Trapper’s Loop – This past summer, a new traffic pattern was implemented in partnership with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) off Trapper’s Loop onto Snowbasin Road. This pattern allows cars from both southbound and northbound lanes to simultaneously turn onto Snowbasin Road through a new lane addition, creating an estimated 25% increase in vehicle speed, and mitigating traffic and congestion to and from the resort.
  • Carpool Incentive System – Parking lots A through E will be reserved for vehicles with three or more people on weekends and holidays. Starting at the roundabout below the resort, incoming traffic will be separated into multiple lanes with express parking and priority access given to carpoolers down the south end of the parking lots. Vehicles with two or fewer people will receive quicker access directly into Canyon Rim Parking Lot or Maples Parking Lot due to these added lanes.

“We’re excited to launch these substantial updates that will enhance the guest experience at Snowbasin,” says Director of Base Area Services, Eric Ahern. “Our new system reflects our dedication to sustainability, ease of access, and overall convenience, through a streamlined carpool incentive system and an efficient new traffic pattern. These changes will reduce wait times and make mountain access more convenient for our valued guests, while maintaining the world-class experience Snowbasin is known for.”
